Complex in memory of SMURD crew fallen in Cantemir crash to be built on crash scene
A memorial complex will be built in the memory of the four members of the SMURD crew from Romania, fallen in the tragic air accident registered on 2 June 2016 in Haragis village, Cantemir district, in a rescue mission on the territory of Moldova. The decision was taken today by the Ministers cabinet.
The memorial complex will be built on the territory of the administration of Agency SILVA-SUD Cahul - forestry fund, in the same place where the accident took place.
Through this gesture are commemorated these true heroes who sacrificed their own lives trying to save the life of Moldovan citizens. The expenses for the construction works will be covered by the financial resources coming from donations and sponsorships.
Also today, the government decided the installation of a commemorative plate for the poetess Leonida Lari, a important person of Moldovan culture and history and a true patriot of this land. The plate will be set up in front of the building in which the poetess lived, on 7 Nicolae Iorga street, Buiucani sector, Chisinau municipality.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that a SMURD Iasi chopper crashed on 2 June 2016 while heading to Cahul, Moldova to take a patient. Some of the hypotheses of the accident are: a chopper failure, a human error in piloting the flying apparatus, and the unfavorable weather conditions.
