Conflict in Feștelița. Family demands villagers to stop bringing cattle near their house
Conflict in Feștelița village, Ștefan Vodă. A family from the settlements requested people to stop bringing their cattle to the field located near their house. Their son suffers from cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that causes difficulty in breathing. The 8-year-old boy requires a sterile environment, while the cattle's smell might affect his health.
To solve the problem, local mayor convoked a meeting gathering around 30 people. Local administration found another road where people can take their cows.
"We established another path. There are many roads people can take, but many are used to that specific one, because they release the animals and they go by themselves to the field" Mayor of Feștelița village, Nicolae Tudoreanu said.
Some villagers were insulted by the woman's request.
"For those 50 meters we need to make over 2 km around the village. This path is shorter, but her house is in the way."
Some accused the woman of being selfish.
"She also has cattle."
The woman claims that her son is not left near the farm animals of the household.
"He only stays in front of the house, does not approach the animals. He has no access to them" Veronica Curmei said.
The doctor who treats the child claims that his condition must be carefully monitored, otherwise excessive mucus might appear leading to lung diseases.
"Environments with humidity are dangerous for the boy. Everything must always be sterile to protect his lungs from bacteria" doctor Oxana Turcu said.
According to the statistics, around 90 000 people around the world are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
