Constitutional Court from Lithuania visited by Alexandu Tanase Justice Ministry of Moldova
Alexandru Tanase discussed about the justice reform, including the amendments to the Constitutional Court of Moldova, the peculiarities and similarities between the reorganization of judicial systems in Moldova and Lithuania and the impact of the reorganization on justice.
He also explained that the planned changes are based on the integrity and specialization of judges, and the Supreme Court of Justice is to be transformed into a court of cassation, similar to the one from Lithuania.
In the context of the talks, Dainius Zalimas reported on recent developments in the jurisprudence of his country's Constitutional Court. Among the most relevant subjects was the protection of state secrets and the intervention of religion in state governance. He also commented on Lithuania's intention to introduce individual constitutional complaints.
Please note that the Constitutional Court of Moldova has been cooperating for a long time with the homologous institution in Lithuania, and some of Lithuania's assistance projects have contributed to reforms supporting in the field of justice, reforming the Constitutional Court and other justice sector institutions.
