Contraband and three forged documents detected at borders
Four attempts to smuggle goods and forged documents were detected by border guards.
According to law enforcement, a BMW with Moldovan registration plate was pulled over on Briceni-Cotiujeni highway. The vehicle was driven by a villager from Larga, Briceni district. Searches revealed goods located on the car's back seat, while shoes were found in the trunk, all lacking required documents.
The investigation is ongoing.
Another two cases were registered at Briceni – Rossoșani crossing point, at the country's exit.
Two Ukrainian citizens wished to exit the country at only a few minutes difference. The first suspect, 38, was driving an Opel Astra-G, while the second 31-year-old young man, was behind the wheel of an Opel Vivaro. Both cars had Lithuanian registration plates. Among the documents presented by both men were found some documents with grammatical mistakes, incorrect address and fake stamp. According to the information, the institution mentioned in the papers has suspended its activity.
In another case, a 30-year-old Moldovan presented a forged Russian driver's license. The incident took place in Otaci customs, at the country's entrance. The vehicle was registered in Republic of Moldova.
The suspects risks a fine to 650 conventional units, 150 to 200 hours of unpaid community service, or to 2 years behind bars.
