Financial Fraud Investigator from the Centru sector of Chisinau Police Department continue to take measures to combat illegal live fish trade in the Central Market.

On site, law enforcement have established that a group of people, under an agreement, organized an illegal scheme to smuggle into Republic of Moldova from Ukraine, through Transnistria, live Carp. They lacked all the necessary papers, proving the origin and quality of the fish, as well as other documents, such as a permit to unfold this activity, trying to flee from investigators, leaving behind the vehicles.

Officers have confiscated the vehicle and transported 1 400 kg of live fish. Therefore, according to the decision taken by National Food Safety Agency specialists, the fish cannot be consumed by people. Therefore, the lot was seized, transported to specialized enterprise and exterminated.

According to the law, a verbal process was written and sanctions of 4 500 lei applied.
