Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoacă stays under house arrest, as the Court of Appeal has rejected his lawyers’ request to set him free.
The mayor is suspected of influence peddling in the paid parking lots case. Other three municipal councilors will also stay in custody.
Transport Minister Iurie Chirinciuc also stays in custody, being accused of graft and illegal extraction of mineral resources.
The son of the former President Petru Lucinschi, Chiril Lucinschi, also stays under house arrest. He was detained later last month for alleged involvement in a money laundering scam.
