Crime Assets Recovery Agency has confiscated in the past five months goods worth over 46 million lei.

Since the beginning of the year, 320 accounts of digital currency were seized, their activity not being regulated by NBM. Those measures were also taken regarding 54 land lots that were illegally gained, 23 vehicles, 15 apartments and 9 houses. The agency's employees have also frozen 14 bank accounts. After the court's final decision, those goods will become state property or will be given back to the victims. The Crime Assets Recovery Agency has only 8 experts. Despite this, their activity allows prosecutors to detect in a short amount of time illegally gained goods.

"We are working with this agency's inspectors in multiple cases and investigations" PCCOCS chief, Nicolae Chitoroagă mentioned.

"Each criminal, along with the punishment, is forced to recover all the damage" chief of Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Viorel Morari said.

A new strategy was elaborated for the next three years, with the help of European partners, aiming to improve the agency's activity.

"Training, cooperation, EU practices, that will be implemented day by day to improve our activity" director of Crime Assets Recovery Agency, Otilia Nicolai said.

"The main aim is to detect stolen goods and confiscate them. In case of financial crimes, time is our enemy. The longer the procedure lasts, the less chances there are to recover the losses" expert of the European Council, Pedro Pereiro mentioned.

Crime Assets Recovery Agency begun its activity in January. The new subdivision of NAC aims to recover the assets from corruption, money laundering, bank frauds and other types of crimes.
