Criminal organization specialized in trading ethanol and forged alcohol busted
Three men were found trading big quantities of Ethanol and forged alcoholic beverages. Supposedly through this act, the two men of 34 and 41-year-old, from Chisinau and Râbniţa, have damaged the state budget with over 9 million lei.
The criminal organization was led by a 34-year-old man. Along with some accomplices, the men were forging alcohol, as well as selling ethanol.
The police established that the alcohol was transported from Transnistrea to Chisinau, through Criuleni customs using vehicles specialized in cement transportation.
The suspects were caught red handed while unloading 140 plastic ethanol containers, of 22 liters each, amounting to over 3 thousand liters, hidden in special compartments.
From June to September 2017, the men supposedly transported 120 tons of ethanol.
At the same time, after searching their warehouses, houses and vehicles, law enforcement have managed to discovered nearly 3 000 liters of ethanol, 6 000 bottles of alcohol lacking origin labeling, cell phones, 650 000 lei that supposedly came from illegal activity, encoded messages proving frauds and a video camera.
Officers have also seized two trucks, along with the cisterns, containing nearly 52 tons of cement, a minivan meant for ethanol transportation and a Chevrolet Jeep.
The men were arrested for 30 days. If found guilty they risk to spend the next 5 years behind bars.
