A 27 year old defendant from No.18 Bahrinesti penitentiary of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions is searched for fraud.

After the investigations made by the Direction for fighting against criminality of the National Investigation Inspectorate, in common with IP Briceni established that the defendant targeted to steal money by creating fake pages on Odnoklassniki.

Thus, the suspect created many web pages on Odnoklassniki with identity information, photos and so on. Thus, the suspect was sending messages and asking for 500-1 000 euros or USD. After this scheme, they were transmitting the money to the defendant.

In this case, there was initiated a penal case on 190 article of the Penal Code of Republic of Moldova. According to the law enforcement, the persons are punished with up to three years in prison.

Thus, the National Police recommend the citizens to be careful when somebody contacts them on social media. The victims of media frauds are urged to address to the police.
