Detainees benefited from professional courses to integrate into society
State Secretary General Anatolie Munteanu and Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniţă attended today the conference on "A New Life for Young Delinquents".
The project was implemented in 2 penitentiaries by the Department of Penitentiary Institutions (DIP), subordinated to the Ministry of Justice, and development partners.
Accordingly, juveniles from Penitentiaries no. 10 Goian and no. 13 Chisinau attended communication courses and learned the skills of chef, baker, barber and shoemaker for one year.
They acquired knowledge, professional skills and graduation certificates in order to find job after release from detention.
There have also been campaigns to promote equal opportunities in the labor market and information programs to facilitate their integration.
The project was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Romania's Development Cooperation Program and implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The program was based on a partnership agreement concluded by DPI, West University and Intercultural Institute both in Timisoara, Romania.
