"Dignity and Truth" party protests at military parade seen through firefighter eyes
"Why should I be ashamed? Because I'm a firefighter? " That is the question that rescuers who were booed by "Dignity and Truth" party behind which stay Topa mobsters ask. In a Facebook message, Dmitrii Polşcin, one of the 64 firefighters who marched yesterday at the military parade, described the feelings they had during the event overshadowed by protests.
Preparations were held for the military parade on Stefan cel Mare boulevard, near the Ministry of Agriculture building. Dmitrii Polşcin writes that at 08:30 a.m., firefighters were ready for the event.
Before the parade started, rescuers took photos with little ones who also wanted to try their helmets.
Soon, the participants were instructed to start the parade.
"Till "Stefan cel Mare" Public Garden, the smile melted on my face when I saw children waving at me and me answering them, it made me remember myself. And here's the Square... Happy children faces and their parents have been replaced by a police cordon that separates us from the crowd shouting "shame!" We looked perplexed... Why? Why should I be ashamed? Because I'm a firefighter? At that moment, our commander, Sergiu Gubencu exited the line and ordered: "Hold the line! You are the best!" And then we entered the Great National Assembly Square. Behind we could all hear the protesters, and people bursting in applauses" , writes the rescuer.
That was the moment that encouraged firefighters. The man says he was in tears when he saw the cheering crowd.
"It was then when I understood whom we risk our lives for." He concluded.
Dmitri Polşcin is the firefighter who was on the cover of American "International Fire Fighter" magazine. He drew the attention of overseas journalists after attending a training in the United States.
