Dozens of Catholics gathered last night at the Roman Catholic Cathedral from Chisinau, where they attended the Lord's Resurrection Service. Traditionally, the bishop of the church blessed Haric Fire, then divided the light of the faithful. The parishioners brought with them eggs of red, pasture and other dishes to sanctify them.
For Larisa Barabas this feast is one of soul. The woman says she never missed the Easter service, and the basket for sanctification has prepared her early.
"We bring sacrifices and eggs, red candles, candles, salt, and necessarily matches. I held fast, I participated in the service of passion until the Resurrection and, of course, is a long awaited evening."
Catholics say that for them Easter is the most important religious celebration.
"It is a great feast for us, from which everything revives. We have brought for sanctification all that God has given us."
"We came to celebrate a beautiful feast for the soul, for the pure soul, for pure thoughts, for a future."
This man is an Orthodox Christian, but says he came to meet the Catholic Easter tradition for the first time.
"I have never attended a Catholic ministry, and now I am here for the first time. Everything seems simpler: from the way they are dressed up to the way of thinking."
After the Resurrection, the priests sanctified the food for the feast.
"Christ has risen!
"He is risen indeed!"
