Drug addicts to benefit from governmental assistance

The drug consumers and the patients of substitution therapy will benefit from psycho-social and rehab services, as the Cabinet has approved a decision today.
A communique reads "the service will contribute to enhancing the beneficiaries’ capacities of analyzing their problems and develop abilities to solve them.”
The drug addicts will also be assisted to integrate socially and economically. The authorities hope the drive will decrease drugs and alcohol consumption.
According to the Health Ministry, 1,200 – 1,500 young people are recorded as consumers of illegal drugs and other psychotropic substances.
About 9,000 drug addicts are currently registered, 90% of them being men younger than 30.
