Easter traditions. Moldovan sweet bread less popular than Italian one
From year to year, the Moldova Easter sweet bread is less popular, because the Italian one wins more fans. The bakers of the biggest Moldovan bakery say that in the past 14 years, the sweet bread production raised by 15% and reached 23 tones.
Svetlana Caraman remembers that in 2005 she gained three receipts from an Italian baker.
"We have Italian pannettone with milk, cocoa, Belgium chocolate", said Svetlana Caraman, baker.
The receipt of the Moldovan sweet bread was changed, in order to be able to compete with the Italian one.
"After ten years, the traditional sweet bread has changed a lot. Now, has different dressings", said Svetlana Caraman.
"The company produces 150 tones of Easter products. This year, we will produce 170 tones, because we have more requests this year", mentioned Boris Andros, director of bakery.
The customers say that they like everything what is new.
"We bought an Italian sweet bread. -Is it tasty? Why are you buying it? -I have never bought such one before and I want to compare now."
A sweet bread costs between 7 lei and 83 lei.
