Economic expert: Moldova exceeded the biggest crisis in its history
Moldova passed over the biggest crisis of its history. This opinion belongs to Veaceslav Ionita. According to him, the crisis that Moldova faced five years ago was three times harder and two times longer than the global rated in 2008.
Starting the middle of 2014 to the beginning of 2018, the number of loans offered by banks was reduced by 15 billion lei: from 47,2 billion lei to 32,1 billion lei, as the deposits decreased in 2015.
"In 2018, we registered a record. The banks had a surplus of 28 billion lei. The National Bank needs to froze this money and pay rate for them. The previous year, we paid 600 million lei rate for frozen money", said Veaceslav Ionita, expert in economy.
The things started to change in February of the last year. By the end of 2018, the volume of loans raised by three billion and a half. Meanwhile, the volume of loans also decreased. The rates also decreased.
"In 2018 the quality of the loans was better. The suspect loans decreased by 30%, with 1,2 billion lei. On the one side, the giving loans process has changes. On the other side, the deposit process also has changed", said Veaceslav Ionita.
Veaceslav Ionita said that the representatives of the National Bank confirm his sayings. They say that the pro-business politics of the Government have an essential role to change the situation. The "First House" program had a big influence on this.
"The number of loans increased due to First House project", said Constantin Schendra, the director of National Bank of Moldova surveillance center.
"Good Roads for Moldova' program also is very important. Due to this program, many road repairing companies took loans. According to Veaceslav Ionita expert, the tendency will last until the next year.
