The elections in the Gagauzia Popular Assembly will take place on 20 November 2016. The decision was taken during the special meeting of the local legislative body.

In this day, the residents of the autonomy with the right to vote will choose the 35 deputies in the Popular Assembly.

Some politicians from the region are claiming that these elections are very important and might influence the results of the future parliamentary and local elections.

The deputies from the autonomy are chosen through direct vote for a four-year mandate, in 35 circumscriptions.

The first meeting of the present members of the Popular Assembly took place in October 2012.

In Gagauzia Autonomy are over 105,000 voters.
