Elena Bacalu claims husband's file as a political outcry and admits they were intimidated
Democrat MP Elena Bacalu claims her husband's file as a political outcry. She says she was told to join a parliamentary faction in the current government or even to step down. The PDM politician also added that, in the last month, his husband, Vasile Bacalu, was constantly under pressure from his superiors.
"I was proposed to leave the Democratic Party, to join a political faction that is in government today. Moreover, when I refused, there was a lot of pressure exerted on me to submit my mandate. In particular, this intimidation, these wrongdoings were made against many of our colleagues, "said Elena Bacalu.
The chairmen of the PSRM, PAS and PPDA factions could not be contacted by phone for comment.
Deputy Elena Bacalu also says that her husband's file is a political order. Accordingly, Vasile Bacalu was pressured to leave the position of chief of the Cahul customs post, being threatened even with the arrest.
A few days ago, when Elena Bacalu's husband was detained, a press release was published on the Internal Ministry website, mentioning that this action is part of the priority objective assumed by the Minister of Interior to fight corruption among state officials.
