Employees caring for sick family members, will be able to request longer suspension
Employees who care for a member of the sick family will be able to request the suspension of the individual employment contract, with the retention of the job, for a period of two years, not a year as in the current law.
The provision is contained in a draft amending and completing of the Labor Code, voted in final reading at Parliament's November 10 meeting, IPN reports.
The project's author, deputy Valentina Stratan, mentions in the information note that the present initiative intends to protect the interests of sick children and children with disabilities as well as their parents by offering additional legal opportunities that do not involve distinct expenditure but which they can address the realities they face, writes Democracy.md.
According to the deputy, the project adoption will improve situation of parents caring for sick or disabled children, allowing them to retain their jobs for a certain period of time until their children get better and then come back to work.
