Employees of CFM involved in cigarettes smuggling attempts
The Railway employees from, the Republic of Moldova are involved in cigarettes smuggling attempts. Starting 2016, they were smuggling the goods through Chisinau-Bucharest international route.
The smuggling scheme was pretty simple: the goods of different categories, inclusively cigarettes and slightly altered products were placed in the wagons.
Then, after they were crossing the border, the goods were sold abroad.
As a result of 18 investigations in Moldova, in the No.1 wagon of Chisinau-Bucharest route, 19 900 cigarettes of Ashima mark were revealed.
Also, 280 000 cigarettes of Ashima mark and 100 000 cigarettes of Rotmans Denim mark were revealed at the house of one of the participants.
The cigarettes are worth 290.946 lei.
Three persons were arrested.
If found guilty, the suspects risk up to 10 years in prison, or between 5.000 and 10.000 contravention units.
