Employment crisis: Lack of educators, chefs and nurses in kindergartens of Chisinau
The crisis of educators, chefs and nurses in kindergartens exists in Chisinau in the context of oncoming academic year.
As a result, institution directors have to merge the groups or even temporarily discontinue their activities. The number of vacancies in kindergartens in Chisinau reached 576, increase of 34 compared to last year.
Kindergarten 168 from Botanica needs six educators and eight educator assistants. Under these circumstances, they have to carry double workload.
"What kind of quality in education can be when the educator does not deal with children's education but wash the dishes?" said Ala Mateescu, educator of kindergarten 168.
It is not easy for educators to gain a better life. Veronica Sprincicoare has to work in two groups but her salary remains only 1,400 lei:
"The situation is tough, the city is hard to live in. We don't have another choice and we still have to work from eight o'clock to seven o'clock."
Unfortunately, employees continue to leave. Director of the kindergarten, says that from September 1, there will be no more two educators.
"For one year, a single person, a teacher-assistant, has been working for a month and has gone abroad. They do not want to work with such low salary," said Ina Burlac, director of the kindergarten 168 .
Same serious situation occurs in kindergarten 40 (same sector). The institution's activity might be ceased because of only one cook remaining.
Parents accuse the authorities of not taking the matter seriously:
"I also cannot live on with such salary personally. We have only one teacher in our kids's group."
"This problem has existed for decades."
Meanwhile, kindergartens 182 and 54 have ceased their activity for lack of cooks.
"If we do not find ourselves personally for these institutions, we have to try to transfer either some chefs from the respective combinations, from the school combinations," said Alexandru Fleaş, head of the General Education, Youth and Sport Directorate.
In the 157 kindergartens in Chisinau there are 400 vacant positions of educators and educators, 104 - chefs, 46 - dishwashers and 37 nurses.
