Eugen Sturza, minister of Defense held meeting with Mihai Fifor, his colleague from Romania
The two officials discussed about the national security, the cooperation between Romania and Moldova on defense filed, but also about the partnership of Moldova with EU and NATO.
Sturza informed his Romanian colleague about the actions they initiated by the defense institution's leadership in the context of the National Army reform, focusing on the implementation of the DCBI, the professionalization of the National Army and the improvement of the social protection of soldiers and civilian employees.
In this sense, Eugen Sturza appreciated the Romanian support in achieving the objectives of modernization of the National Army, including by granting scholarships for the training of our officers and non-commissioned officers in the educational institutions. Minister Sturza also thanked Moldovans for the preparation of Moldovan troops, together with the Romanians, in bilateral and multinational exercises held in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria.
Eugen Sturza also mentioned the assistance provided by the Romanian Government to implement social projects aimed at the safety of Moldovan citizens, such as the NATO Pest Management Project, a project managed by the National Army.
For his part, Minister Mihai Fifor said that the Moldovan-Romanian cooperation relations on the defense dimension have made important progress over time. In this respect, the Romanian Defense Minister has specified that he will continue to support the National Army of the Republic of Moldova, especially with regard to the institution's reform this year.
Minister Fifor added that Romania will be with our country in its European path and advocated intensified defense co-operation.
In Constanta, the Minister of Defense participated in the celebrations on the occasion of the Romanian Navy Day, an event organized by the Naval Forces.
Note that Minister Eugen Sturza is on August 14-15, on a working visit to Romania, at the invitation of Romanian Defense Minister Mihai Fifor.
