Even if he is not a mayor anymore, Dorin Chirtoaca said what did he manage to do while being Capital mayor
Dorin Chirtoaca remembered the times when he was mayor. Although he is no longer Capital mayor for nearly two months, the Liberal went to Europe's Square, in front of a much modest audience than in his glorious years, and said what he did in 10 years for Chişinău. According to him, one of the greatest achievements is that he got rid of the bad smell of the city.
"The results can be seen, because we have cleaner air in Chisinau, it is no longer the smell from the purification station," said Dorin Chirtoaca.
People living in the area have another opinion:
"It is not true, here in the area it smells anyway. The area in the village of Bâc, Muncesti smells so bad".
Chirtoaca also says that during the three terms of being a mayor, 35 streets have been partially repaired or capitalized:
"Including Stefan cel Mare, Mihai Viteazul Boulevard, Negruzzi, Vadul lui Voda and so on. LED lighting, projects for fluidization of traffic, green arrow, roundabouts".
In reality, things are a little different. For example, after a year of rehabilitation of the Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, holes and bumps appeared.
"There was not a hundred percent repaired as it should have been." The materials are not appropriate or the workers have made the money, "a man said.
In the report, the former Mayor of Chisinau also included the construction of playgrounds.
"300 playgrounds, 40 fitness courts, 10 sports grounds," Chirtoaca said.
The rest of the areas have been set up in recent years, but some sites have instead been set up. On Alba Iulia street, the residents of a neighborhood fail for a few years to stop the construction of a 14-storey block on the site of a playground. The permit was signed by the municipality during the period of Chirtoaca.
"The children in three houses were playing, but the elders were going out for a ride, they came, they cut 24 trees, so our children were left without land," explained a resident of the Capital.
Dorin Chirtoaca brought to the report also the PL candidate at the City Hall, Valeriu Munteanu: "The priorities we have can be continued from my point of view, namely by my colleague who is on my right, Valeriu Munteanu."
According to the most recent survey of the Association of Sociologists and Demographers, Chirtoaca and Munteanu would receive 3.2 and 2.5 per cent respectively of the voters' votes in Chisinau. Dorin Chirtoaca was the mayor of Chisinau starting 2007 until 2017 year, when he was suspended, being accused of passive corruption and trafficking in the paid parking lot file. The Liberal resigned on February 16th. He is currently under judicial scrutiny, and if found guilty, he risks up to six years behind bars.
