Experts: Government maintains firm stance with Russia and bars anyone to defy territorial integrity of Republic of Moldova
Chisinau authorities maintain firm stance in relations with Russia and won't allow anyone to defy territorial integrity of Republic of Moldova. It has been said by political analysts in În centrul atenţiei show (In the Spotlight) after Moldova's decision to recall country's Ambassador to Moscow, Andrei Neguţa.
Experts believe that reason for this action could be the diplomat's way to handle the topic of opening the so-called "camouflaged" diplomatic representation of the Transnistrian region in Moscow.
"The Government had a firm stance against this decision. From my point of view, Mr. Neguţa can no longer represent the interests of the Republic of Moldova, I think it would be good if he resigned to avoid a possible conflict situation." said Roman Mihaieș, a political analyst.
Analysts believe the Russian authorities are thus trying to influence the campaign for the parliamentary elections.
"This country treats the Republic of Moldova as an area of its geopolitical interests, in the meantime our country wants another attitude. The Russian Federation follows or even gets involved in the domestic affairs of the Republic of Moldova and in the electoral process, " said Victor Play, political scientist.
Experts also say that Moscow is encouraging the "provocative" statements of the Tiraspol administration. Transnistrian authority intended to open other two so-called diplomatic representations in Brussels and Kiev, according to Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski. This announcement was made during a meeting from the alleged foreign ministry in Tiraspol, attended by Russian ambassador to Chisinau Oleg Vasnetov.
