Fabulous amounts of money BEM gave as bad loans, when Shor was board chair
13 billion lei, this is the total amount of the unregistered credits given by Banca de Economii in the period when Ilan Shor was president of the Administration Council. The information was confirmed by Viorel Morari, chief of Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The money from the credits was the objective of swindling and meddling of great extent.
On Wednesday, Ilan Shor was detained for 72 hours in this case.
On the other side, his lawyers decline the accusations and call the investigators' actions as "justice for media".
Also the Party "Ravnopravie", leader of which is now Shor, disapprove the prosecutors’ actions.
Ilan Shor is 29 years old, and since June 2015 he is mayor of Orhei. Previously, he was president of Administration Council of Banca de Economii and member of the Administration Council of Chisinau International Airport.
The General Prosecutor’s Office has started at the beginning of December 2014 a penal investigation on shady transactions between Banca de Economii and Banca Sociala.
In February 2015, CNA officers did ample searches, including in the house of Ilan Shor.
In May 2015, the businessman was placed in house arrest for 30 days, being accused in BEM case. Anti-corruption prosecutors have levied on his propriety.
It was Shor who denounced the former PLDM president Vlad Filat, admitting that he gave him a bribe of 250 million US dollars.
