Family aggressors to be monitored electronically
Family aggressors will be able to be monitored electronically, with a bracelet installed on their hand or foot. The Parliament has voted today a draft law for the amendment of several normative acts in this respect, in the first and second reading.
The project proposes the electronic monitoring of the family aggressors, with a bracelet installed on their hand or foot, immediately after the judge pronounces the ordinance for the protection of the victim, with the application of the protection measures regulated by law.
At the same time, it is proposed to oblige the aggressor to temporarily leave the common home or to stay away from the victim's home, regardless of the property right over the goods.
Also, the aggressors will have to stay away from the victim's whereabouts, at a distance that ensures his/her security, excluding any contact, including telephone, correspondence or otherwise.
Furthermore, the aggressor will be forbidden to approach certain places: the victim's place of work, the child's place of study, other specific places that the protected person attends.
The amendments allow the victim, his/her family members, to be monitored by an electronic surveillance system, such as a small GSM phone, if they express their consent in writing.
The new regulations are proposed to enter into force at the expiration of the term of 6 months from the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.
