Family with the most children in Moldova: Twelve children work abroad whilst seven in schools
Twelve of the children of Mihai and Maria Ungureanu are living and working abroad. While other seven children are studying at high schools and universities.
In the family with most children, in Straşeni district, Căpriana village, you can feel very well. You can see the house was built with love. Shoes for children were not seen anymore.
Asked where the children are now, Mihai responded that:
- Two are studying in universities in Chisinau. Other three are in high school in Strășeni. 12 from 19 children are living and working abroad. We keep in touch, we talk every day. We have calls from France, Spain, Italy and Netherlands. Most of them are married. We have eight grandchildren.
- Is it easier to live now? Not much cooking, washing, cleaning like for an army before.
- It was easier when they were young. I don't think it's hard.
- How can? Everybody needs to bed on time. They need to be educated, advised for their problems. You have to earn enough money for such a big family.
- Now I wake up with my wife, the kids are not home. It's boring.
Mihai is 60 years old, his wife Maria is 53, two young grandparents. In the autumn, their son Stephen will marry. All children will gather at the wedding.
According to Mihai, the state has not helped him a lot, if not at all.
"When Voronin came to power, we received 600 lei monthly. How the government changed, I didn't see any money. I remember, the former Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuță once donated us 2000 lei."
