Farmer from Hâncești, owner of 18 greenhouses, won 50 000 lei from Moldovan Business People Association

Andrei Fodor, a 31-year-old farmer from Cărpineni village, Hâncești, managed to launch his own business. In five years, he managed to build 18 greenhouses where tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and green herbs are grown.
The first three were build in 2013, while all the income gained within four years of activity was invested in agriculture. Last year, the farmer built another 15 greenhouses and extended his plantation by one hectare.
"For four years I experimented with different plants, gained the necessary experience, because this is not a fixed field. In 2017 I decided that it was time to further develop, because only this way I can more forward" Andrei Fodor explained.
To be able to continue his activity, the farmer though of using solar energy and therefore created a business plan and applied to a competition organized by Moldovan Business People Association (AOAM), winning 50 000 lei out of the necessary 120 000.
"It is an expensive project, already approved by Gas Natural Fenosa. When the weather will improve, works will begin" Andrei Fodor said.
By developing his business, the farmer managed to create 10 jobs. Many of those working in the greenhouses have returned from abroad and are happy that they found employment home.
"I am happy that I can now work and be with my children. I no longer need to leave abroad."
"I love that I managed to find a job in Moldova. The work conditions are also great."
"We are very grateful. It is a big opportunity to remain with our children. I previously worked in the village's bakery, then left abroad and returned."
The vegetables from Cărpineni are sold in various supermarkets and restaurants from Chisinau.
