Farmers in Zaim village's Sapling Festival grabbed chances to promote their local brands (video)
The third edition of Sapling Festival took place today in Zaim village, Causeni district. Dozens of farmers came to the event with various types of fruit trees.
Sergiu Cernat is one of the visitors. He has grafted seedlings for 15 years and now has come to promote his production.
"There is a Chinese-Japanese plum, a plum type that grows in Moldova," said fruit grower Sergiu Cernat.
He says fruit-growing work requires a lot of patience. Annually, the man produces about 30,000 seedlings. The domestic ones are on sale for up to 25 lei and the imported ones are twice as expensive.
"We have foreigners buyers coming to us, we do not export," said Sergiu Cernat, fruit farmer.
The festival attracted a lot of visitors who went home with various types of saplings.
There was also a concert in the event, attended by folk ensembles from the district.
Sapling Festival was organized by the local authorities. The event took place during this period, since it coincided with the sowing season.
"We are promoting our local brand Zaim Saplings, from Zaire to the Caucasus, you surely should find Zaim saplings," said Zaim village mayor Ion Veste.
There are around 30 fruit farmers in Zaim village, Causeni district.
