Prime Minister Pavel Filip sent a letter to Viorica Dancila Romania prime minister. He congratulates Romania as they taking over the EU Council presidency.
Pavel Filip expressed his hope that during the Romanian presidency, the Republic of Moldova will improve its relationship with the EU and will strengthen its position within the Eastern Partnership.
"We welcome the intention of the Romanian Presidency to launch strategic reflections on the future of cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries. The Republic of Moldova is interested to harmonize in a more harmonious way the needs of technical and sectoral cooperation with the long-term political priorities of the Eastern partners, especially the three associated countries", the letter said.
The Moldovan official said that there is currently a very good dialogue with Bucharest and the common agenda is an European one. Infrastructure and interconnection projects will be further developed so that the Republic of Moldova is closer to the big European family.
Pavel Filip wished the Government of Romania to be very successful in the exercise of his mandate, expressing his confidence that this is an opportunity both for the advancement of the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and for the deepening of the bilateral cooperation.
Romania took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1 2019. The Council of the European Union is the institution in which the governments of the Member States promote their national positions.
It is one of the seven European institutions, which, together with the European Parliament and the European Commission, is responsible for the negotiation of European legislation.
