Fingerprints of drivers from Republic of Moldova will be taken using a modern and fast method
The handprints of drivers from Republic of Moldova will be taken using a modern and fast method, by live scanners. The Government has approved to change the law on gaining, monitoring and using dactyloscopic information.
Collection of dactyloscopic information from drivers will be made by Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the Public Service Agency's multi-functional centers. Therefore, the centers will be equipped with live-scanners. After the prints will be taken, the data will be introduced within the system for the identification of dactyloscopic information - AFIS.
The new system, created based on European countries, will simplify the procedure of registering dactyloscopic information. At the same time, dactyloscopic information will help establish the identity of people who passed away in car accidents, as well as allow law enforcement to identify the suspects.
In Republic of Moldova are registered over one million drivers. Since 2012, after the law on dactyloscopic information was approved, driver were obligated to have their fingerprints taken. To this point, the procedure was ignore due to lack of equipment.
At the moment, dactyloscopic information is held in paper form. Over the past 16 years, in the dactyloscopic information database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were registered over 400 000 files, it being the single and biggest fingerprint database from Republic of Moldova.
