The grapes harvest has already started. The specialists say that it was a more difficult year in comparison with 2017. With all these, the authorities hope that this year the harvest will be bigger.

The biggest grapes harvest was registered the previous year and it was weighting 675 thousand tones.

" Viticulturists apply more advanced technologies and global grape production is increasing and productivity per hectare is also rising", said Valeriu Cebotari, main consultant in the policy and regulation of the wine sector.

There are 130,000 vineyards in the country. Roman Braguţa from Durleşti has 2.5 hectares of vineyard. To have a bigger profit, seven years ago he gave up technical varieties and planted  new sorts. This year is the first time that grapes are picked so early.

"We jumped from winter to summer and this year we have production 2 weeks earlier, both for table grapes and other crops that are in our country."

The viticultor explained to us why we pay for a kilogram of red table grapes twice as much as for the white ones.

"In our country we can produce red grapes more qualitatively, because we have the difference between day-to-day temperature and we can get a much better color. That's why on our market, red grapes have a price for today's double," said Roman Băguţă, viticultor.

Due to the lack of labor, the man managed to hire only two workers to work in the field. Sometimes they call for family help.

"Cut the long shoots so that they can pass the tractor and let the leaf down around the grape, so as not to bruise the grain and not to the shade, to be able to bake," said Roman Băguţă, viticultor.

The first grapes are already on sale. Traders say that for the time being, only the most poignant rocks are made at the stalls.
