First interview of Carina Turcanu, Moldovan accused of espionage in favor of Romania. What did she declare
Carina Ţurcan, the Moldovan accused of espionage in favor of Romania, said she had no access to the Russian state's secrets and hoped to have an open trial.
The statements were made in an interview for meduza.io, quoted by deschide.md Ţurcan says she does not recognize the accusations brought to her and does not see why his trial would be closed.
"I see no reason for my trial to be closed, and the article in the criminal code that is being criminalized (spying) can not be the reason for closing the trial. I did not have access to state secrets. I hope that my innocence will be visible in an open trial", Ţurcan said.
The Inter RAO management refused to comment on the information on Carina Ţurcan's access to classified information. The woman stressed that the Russian secret services had not provided evidence that she would have collaborated with the intelligence services of other states.
"Investigators refuse to show me what, when and when I sent (no information). that's why I believe that what the investigation calls evidence is fake manufactured. I do not find another explanation, "Carina Ţurcan said.
The woman says that there could be pressures on her work with "incompetent partners" and because of "missions" she did not want to say. She said that there were pressures and warnings from some people before.
Carina Ţurcan also said that since 2016 she is only a citizen of the Russian Federation, because in that year she refused the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. This statement contradicts the statements of the Romanian Embassy in Moscow, which on June 20 confirmed the Romanian citizenship of the former manager of Inter RAO.
Moldovan woman says she has not yet recovered from the shock caused by her detention and the procedural procedures that followed. Ţurcan told how at 6 o'clock people with bunions on his face rushed into her house.
According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, not only those who have access to classified information can be accused of espionage. Carina Ţurcan was detained on June 15th. The FSB accused her of espionage in favor of Romania.
The Russian press wrote that Turcan would have sent to Romania information on the Crimean and the separatist regions of Donbas. Later, it was written that Turcan would have collaborated with the Chisinau Information and Security Service.
