Former Deputy Minister Valerio Triboi condemns his faults and compensate states damage
The Deputy Minister of Economy Valeriu Triboi, accused for abuse of power and harm in the states budget in the amount of over two million lei, has fully recognized his fault and compensated the amount, as well as being fined with 15 thousand lei.
Following this decision, the court pronounced today that Valeriu Triboi is to be detained from public functions for five years, even though attorneys demanded the punishment to last eight years.
“He fully recognized his fault, thus he was trialed in a special way. The dent in the state’s budget was restored at free will, by the person who admitted to his crimes. Triboi atoned for his sins by not only cooperated with the investigation, but also by pointing out to evidence, explaining how the crime was organized and restoring all the taken money” Attorney Dorin Compan declared.
Valeriu Triboi was taken into custody on the 1st of April, as a result of some discoveries in the Government.
The attorneys determined that by abusing his position, the official purchased, through a third party, a building from SA Moldtelecom in the amount of nearly 1 million lei, which afterwards was rented for 10 years by “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord (Northern Electricity Supplier)”.
According to the attorneys, the suspect influenced the decision for the building to be repaired by SA Moldtelecom. Supposedly 4 million lei were allocated for this cause.
Recently the former minister of Transport Iurie Chirinciuc was condemned for a year and four months, with suspension and a fine of 35 thousand lei, after he admitted to his faults for influence peddling. Chirinciuc was deprived from the right of having public functions for five years, for putting under pressure a company that has won the right to perform repairing works on a road.
