Four citizens of Moldova tried their luck to cross the borders with false documents
Four citizens of Moldova are investigated for owning four false Romanian IDs and three false driver's licenses. Germany, France and Portugal were the countries the suspects aimed to go to with the forget documents. The incident was reported by border guards from Sculeni customs over the past few days.
The first case was registered at the country's exit, when a 32-year-old Moldovan, driving a Volkswagen Crafter minivan with Polish registration plate approached the border control. The young man provided delivery services on route Moldova - Germany. Law enforcement have managed to find some breaches. According to the risk analysis, officers decided to perform a second level control of the vehicle. It resulted in three false Romanian IDs being found in the jacket's pocket. The documents were made in the names of three citizens of Moldova. Law enforcement managed to establish that the documents were supposed to be given to three young men who wished to use them for legitimization of their Romanian citizenship. During questioning, the driver confessed of having no knowledge that the IDs were false, as he offers international delivery services and for transporting the IDs was supposed to receive 30 euro on site.
Another 31-year-old was found in possession of two false driver's licenses. When a bus going Chisinau - Portugal approached Sculeni crossing point, the strange behavior of one of the passengers arose suspicion. Therefore, additional control was performed upon the citizen. Border guards managed to find in the man's wallet two driver's licenses, lacking some security elements. The young Moldovan could not explain the action and was forbidden to pass the border.
Two passengers going Chisinau - Paris have tried their luck in Customs, attempting to cross the border with false documents. Two citizens of Moldova were acting agitated during control, which led to them being questioned. Following, a 36-year-old man from the Capital was found in possession of a false Romanian ID. He admitted that the document was done for 200 euro, through an unknown individual, to be able to legally stay in France. The other forged document was found on the same route in the pockets of a jacket. A 27-year-old confessed to border guards that the document was purchased for 400 euro in 2015, from an unknown individual.
In all cases the documents were confiscated and send to the forensics, while border guards continue the investigation. The men risk, according to article 361, of Republic of Moldova's Penal Code, a fine to 650 conventional unites, or 150 to 200 hours of unpaid community service, or to 2 years of imprisonment.
