Freddie Mercury's sister listed their London house on £4.7 million
Kashmira Bulsara, the younger sister of the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, listed her London penthouse Wednesday, asking £4.75 million (US$6.24 million).
The three-bedroom flat is located in the terrace of stucco-faced townhouses along London’s Hyde Park Gardens, some of which date back to 1836, according to a news release from brokerage Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Kay & Co. The home has south-facing views of Hyde Park and the Central London skyline.
“You’ve got guaranteed year-round unobstructed views and sunshine coming in,” said listing agent Joe Le Beau. “This is an exceptionally bright apartment, and it’s not overlooked [by other buildings] in any way.”
Ms. Bulsara purchased the apartment in 2005, according to a news release.
“Freddie always classed London as his home despite him having properties in other parts of the world . . . Like my brother Freddie, I began to love London,” she said in the release. “Although central to London, [the area] is very quiet when you turn into Hyde Park Gardens.”
Mr. Le Beau said Hyde Park Gardens is one of the most sought-after addresses in London, because of its views and its residential feel.
“There you are, slapped in the middle of the capital, but you don’t really feel like you’re in the middle of a bustling city,” he said. “It’s got kind of a local feel to it as well.”
In addition to its three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the fourth-floor penthouse is comprised of a reception room, dining room, kitchen and loft room. The building offers residents lift access, porter service and a landscaped residents’ garden, according to the news release.
Ms. Bulsara said in the release that she made some renovations to the 2,479-square-foot flat, redesigning the doors and giving the dining room a more contemporary look.
“It’s perhaps the most meticulously maintained apartment I’ve ever seen,” Mr. Le Beau said. “It’s completely pristine.”
Ms. Bulsara, 67, was Mercury’s only sibling, who died in 1991. She said in the release she is selling her London apartment in order to downsize. She could not be reached for comment.
