French Alps avalanche kills at least four and leaves one critical
Two people have died and another is fighting for their life after an avalanche buried nine skiers in the French Alps, The Sun reports.
Emergency helicopters rushed to find the skiers, who were off-piste at about 2,100m above Lake Tignes on the Lavachet slope.
The slopes are a popular holiday destination for Brits. Nationalities of the victims are not yet known.
Rescuers are searching for the remaining skiers who are thought to be trapped under thes now.
According to the head of CRS post in Courchevel, the avalanche took place in an area where the snow stacks and can not be evacuated.
It could take some time to find the buried victims, officials warned.
