A family from Durlești have lost their house, after Friday's storm has caused a load-bearing wall to collapse.
In only a few short moment, the house was flooded, while the family with two children had to seek shelter at neighbors.
The water has rapidly spread to nearby apartments, while locals claim that they lived through a nightmare.
"When the storm begun there was a loud noise. Everyone went outside, it was a disaster. The door was blocked by concrete pieces and we could not exit. The men managed to go outside, while the women couldn't and the children were crying, it was horrible" resident Elena Axente said.
The storm begun when Galina Siriteanu was working. Upon her arrival home, she found a disaster.
"I could not reach my house. In Vitalie's apartment the water reached the knees. A piece of concrete has also fallen in the house. The door could not be opened, the water level in the house having reached half a meter" Galina Siriteanu said.
The concrete wall has also destroyed a car.
The construction company, that build the apartment building a few years ago, assumed full responsibility for the incident. According to its representatives, people will be compensated.
"The company will repair and build another wall from its own account. The family with two small children who lost their apartment will receive a new one in another building" representative of a construction company, Grigore Beselea said.
Following the storm from Friday, 15 settlements remained without electricity, while rescuers were called in on 20 cases to pump out flooded yards and houses.
