Iurie Leanca mentioned in an interview that the discussions about bilateral relations, including the context of the Centenary Year, were focused on the realization of common social, cultural and infrastructure projects with a major impact on improving the life of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
These include the granting of a financial supplement from the Romanian state to Moldovans who have a pension of less than 1500 lei, the rehabilitation of bridges across the Prut, the construction of the Unirii Motorway (Targu Mureş - Iasi - Ungheni), the creation of inter-state linguistic union, the elimination of roaming charges , the rehabilitation of cultural edifices in the municipalities of Chisinau and Cahul, the development of cooperation between the communes of the two countries.
In the context of taking over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 January 2019, the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that this period should be seen as an opportunity to raise the visibility of the Republic of Moldova and develop the multidimensional dialogue with the European institutions and the EU member states.
According to Iurie Leanca, all the issues listed above will be addressed at the joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian Governments to be held at the end of November this year.
