Starting from December 1, 2018, wage increases for budgetary workers will come into force, even up to 90% for some categories. This increase in the Republic of Moldova will be possible within the reform of the wage system, called "Good Salaries for Moldova". The topic was discussed today at the weekly meeting of the Democratic Party.
DPM leader Vlad Plahotniuc said after the meeting that this extraordinary initiative comes as a result of economic growth, and thanks to this reform, more than 150,000 state employees will now benefit from essential salary increases.
Among the professional areas targeted by wage reform are education, health, social assistance, local public authorities. For these categories of public servants, wages will increase by 20, 50 and some even by 90 percent.
The DPM leader pointed out that one of the most important effects of the wage reform initiated by the Democratic Party is that it solves a chronic problem in the public system, where out of a total of 200,000 officials, about 36,000 receive salaries below the minimum existence, less than 2,000 lei.
Another important aspect is that, by implementing this reform, each year, the Government will be forced to raise public sector salaries as they have been changed.
"People for too long deserve and wait these substantial increases in wages that have been promised to them over the years by all politicians so far. The wage reform - which we call "Good Salaries for Moldova"- is one of the measures we talked about at the Grand National Assembly of the Democratic Party on Sunday, where we announced a vast program of actions for Moldova for the well-being of our citizens", said Vlad Plahotniuc.
DPM leader added that the Government will come up with more details on salary increases and their beneficiaries. At the same time, he pointed out that the second phase of the wage reform is already in the planning process, so that in the spring of 2019 those who are not included in the categories of beneficiaries are also part of the salary increases.
