The Government has approved today the program regarding the way funds will be distributed for national public roads in 2018 and the Program for periodical repair works of local roads, highways and streets. According to the decision, the highway renovation works will be financed by the road fund, while the state budget will finance periodical renovation of highways, local roads and streets.

According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, for the highways this year are foreseen around 972 million lei. 822.8 million lei will be allocated to maintain the state of public roads, out of which 492 million lei will be used to improve the roads going to settlements that are located near highways. The rest of the money will be used for reconstruction and repair works of national public roads and construction engineering, execution of design work, evaluating roads and purchasing fields, financing projects to build a road going around Ungheni city, acquisition of the electronic system for issuing, managing, monitoring and controlling electronic vignette.

The program foresees for local roads and streets to be periodically repaired, allowing the improvement of road infrastructure in 1242 settlements from the country. For this aim begin foreseen expenses of 1.6 billion lei.

"The program for periodical repair works of local roads and streets is meant to improve movement in settlements from the country, which will further lead to better trade and investments, growth in competitiveness among economic agents and mobilization of rural workforce. The program will be financed by the state budget, as far as the necessary financial means are accumulated through the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure" Chiril Gaburici declared.

The works in each district and quality control will be made by the Roads Administration, as foreseen by the legislation.
