Government to debate draft law on National Bank's emergency aid or liquidity to banks

The National Bank of Moldova will not be able to grant emergency aid or liquidity to banks that are in the process of being insolvent.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law that provides for this and will be debated in the Parliament plenary.
According to the document, the NBM will only be able to provide emergency aid to banks that are experiencing temporary problems and are viable.
Currently, the National Bank can provide liquidity to banks that are insolvent only if the Parliament or the Government offers state guarantees. Previously, the NBM offered the Emergency Bank an emergency aid of about 17 billion lei.
