Moldovan Ion Lazarenco Tiron was nominated as the best swimmer in 2018 by the World Swimming Pool in Open Water.

Our countryman competed with famous athletes like Frenchman Benoit Lecomte and South American Cameron Bellamy. 

Earlier last year, Ion Lazarenco Tiron became the eighth man on the globe who swam through the seven great straits and the first to succeed this performance in the first attempt.

Part of his adventures were supported by the foundation of Vlad Plahotniuc "Edelweiss".

Although he lives in Ireland for more than 20 years, our countryman always swims with the Republic of Moldova flag.

For the many charity actions he has attended and for the peace messages he sends, Ion Lazarenco Tiron was nominated last year for the Nobel Peace Prize.
