The salaries of doctors and other employees in the healthcare system may rise by 20%, as the young specialists may get a 50-per-cent hike.

The Healthcare ministry develops a new wage-paying mechanism for the sector.

The ministry plans thus to reduce the salary inequality between young and more experienced physicians. The authors think the mechanism will entice the young doctors to stay in the country.

According to the statistics, last year, out of 350 graduates of Moldova’s Medical University, only 151 got employed in the healthcare system.

Now the resident physicians get a monthly scholarship of 1,000 lei and a salary of 1,700, as they get only the salary after graduation.

The draft payment mechanism will be submitted for endorsement to the Government in June.
