Highway Târgu Mureş - Iasi - Ungheni to be built by 2020
After 11 years of feasibility studies, the Târgu Mureş-Iaşi-Ungheni highway could become a reality by 2020. This optimistic term is declared by both Romanian and Moldovan authorities.
Recently, Iaşi County Council and Târgu Mureş issued urban planning certificates for the construction of the European road, which will cost four billion euros.
The highway will cover a length of 320 kilometers, of which only 600 meters will be projected on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
"The highway will start from the bridge that will be raised over the Prut by the Romanian authorities. It will pass on these agricultural fields and will connect with the bypass roads of Ungheni. Way will become part of the European route. "
The authorities in Chisinau are drawing up the last hundred meters of the project on Moldova side.
The bridge, with a length of 260 meters, will be built of steel and reinforced concrete and will cost the Romanian state over 30 million euros. There will be four lanes, two for each direction. The works will start within one year and may be ready in two years.
Ungheni district vice-president Alexandru Brânza says the project is beneficial for citizens on both sides of the Prut. The elected representatives also believe that the number of investors in the free economic zone will increase.
The people in Zagarancea village, Ungheni district, are glad to have access to the highway.
The Târgu Mureş-Iaşi-Ungheni Motorway is considered the most expensive and important investment in Romania in this field.
