A museum of history, archeology and anthropology was opened in the village of Crihana Veche from Cahul district. It was arranged in an old village house. The money for renovation was allocated from the local budget, but also from the donations provided by the locals. All the exhibits in the museum were found in the archaeological site on the territory of the village or were brought by the inhabitants of the village.
"Five years on the village of Crihana Veche were made archaeological, ethnographic researches. They made us to know the history of the village more thoroughly", said Rodica Cucereanu, the mayor of Crihana Veche.
One of the most impressive vestiges exposed is the skeleton of a woman with several skull deformations.
"After the baby was born, various cephalic devices were applied to deform it to give it another form. The purpose of the cranial deformation was to transmit visual information to others", said Angela Simalcsik, an anthropologist.
In one of the three chambers of the museum was set up a large traditional house. Locals hope this will become a tourist attraction.
"This is a new stage for the cultural development of Crihana Veche village."
"It has been such a longing for my ancestors that I am no longer. This place of my soul warms me a lot."
"This is our culture is a reminder of our ancestors."
The opening ceremony was attended by Romanian Consul in Cahul, Ionel Novac.
"It is an useful thing for the elderly, but especially the young people who need to know their history, the past in order to have a dignified present and a happy future", said Ionel Novac, the council of Romania in Cahul.
On the hill where the discoveries were made, the archaeologists found tombs over four thousand years old.
"This year we are at the fifth archaeological research campaign", said Ion Ciobanu, an archaeologist, "what we see here is a double tomb." Double graves are rarely encountered.
An international symposium on outdoor archaeology took place in Crihana Veche. Here were archaeologists and anthropologists from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
