The Venice Commission publicized last month the report over the Moldovan electoral system modification.

The experts recommended the lawmakers to improve the procedures, particularly for electoral circumstances of the left bank Nistru and Gagauzia. Likewise, the gender equality was highly supported. 

Subsequently, in several debates organized in the Legislature, each recommendation was discussed by parliamentary members and extra-parliamentary parties as well as the experts.

PUBLIKA recall that today, the mixed electoral system was adopted by the Parliament with the vote of 74 deputies from 77 present in the hall.

The draft law on the mixed voting system, based on the Venice Commission's recommendations, stipulates 50 deputies to be elected on party lists and 51 - directly by citizens in uninominal constituencies.
