History repeats itself! Independent candidate Igor Dodon will duel with president of the Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu in the second round of the presidential election on November 15.
In the 2016 election, the two also fought for the seat of the head of state with Dodon being the winner, who obtained over 60,000 votes more than Sandu.
Four years ago, in the first round, Igor Dodon garnered almost 48 percent of the vote. More than 680,000 people voted for Dodon, who ran for the Socialists. In second place was the representative of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu, elected by over 549 thousand citizens, ie 38.71% of the total number of votes.
The PSRM candidate was the first in the voters' preferences and in the second round of the presidential elections in 2016. Igor Dodon then accumulated over 834 thousand votes or 52.11% of the votes. The PAS candidate obtained 47.89% of the total number of votes. More than 766 thousand people voted for Maia Sandu.
