THIS is the shocking moment a car on the wrong side of the road careers into two horses sending their helpless riders flying through the air, according to thesun.co.uk.

Within seconds, a blue 4×4 is seen careering around the corner and head-long into the two riders and their mounts.

It hardly seems to slow down as it approaches the horses.

There are sickening scenes as the horses are smashed by the vehicle with one of the animals rearing up on its hind legs.

The terrifying impact sends both riders flying into the air. One is seen scrambling back to their feet but the other rider is left sprawled on the ground.
