Ialoveni city will have a new sewerage system. The work set off last week will take three months. Ialoveni authorities made this decision after specialists had confirmed the local system could no longer be repaired. 

Local people called to complain frequent damaged weekly. 

"They often came to clean up as requested but the situation is repeated. The smell is unbearable."

Teachers and students also complained about unpleasant smell as the sewage pipes pass by their school. 

"They throw something at night which trigger stinky smell in the morning when we're at school".

The pipelines are connected to sewage purification plant on Munceşti st. in Capital and managed by Apă Canal Chişinău enterprise. Their specialists check the network to observe the issue. 

"It's gravely worn. It's used for 50 years. Apparently it's worn out 90%. It's impossible to repair it", said spokesperson of Apă-Canal Chişinău.

Repair works cost up to 4 million lei including 3 million lei allocated by Apă-Canal Chişinău. The rest is from City Hall. 

A new network, 800 meters shorter, is designed to reduce that cost. The pipes are made of polyethylene, a highly resistant material.

The workers pledge to complete the works within 3 months. Subsequently, households that do not have sewerage will be connected to the centralized network.

Mayor Armasu says that all inhabitants of Ialoveni will have sewerage by 2023. The works will be done through two projects funded by local authorities, the State Environmental Fund and the Center for Regional Development Agency.

The total value of the works amounts to about 30 million lei.
