Illegal dump site in Sipoteni village, Calarasi district. What do authorities do to solve this issue
A garbage pit from Sipoteni village, Calarasi district discomfort to the residents of the surrounding.
The majority of the villagers throw the garbage there.
In consequence, the garbage lands on a surface of two hectares.
"When they set it on fire it smells terrible", said a villager.
According to the mayor, the garbage pit was authorized by the local authorities a couple of years ago.
"We even built a wall so the villagers will not place the trash in the middle of the road", said Vasile Rata, the mayor of Sipoteni village.
The representatives of State Ecologic Inspectorate have been announced about this situation many times. The ecologists said that they fined the ones who burned the trash.
"The persons who set the trash on fire are sanctioned between 12 and 24 conventional units. The previous year, 70 out of 160 protocols regarding the trash burn have been made", said Veniamin Chilian, Ecologist.
The local authorities say they have a project that provides building of a trash storage, but they need 18 million Euro to implement it.
Over seven thousand persons live in Sipoteni.
